At MallorcaFly, we offer tandem flights in both conventional paragliding, without a motor, and Paratrike, with a motor. We fly Paratrike much more often: its engine gives the pilot greater freedom to adjust altitude and route and, when conditions allow, to fly over stretches of coastline, sea and cliffs that are not always accessible on an unpowered flight. Since it does not rely solely on rising air currents to stay airborne, Paratrike can also offer more opportunities to fly. Both experiences depend on the weather and only take place when conditions are suitable for safe flying.

What is a Paratrike flight?

A Paratrike combines a paraglider wing with an engine and a trike—a wheeled frame carrying the pilot and passenger. The instructor does the piloting, so no previous experience is needed. Before take-off, they will explain how to get ready and what instructions to follow.

It is not quite the same as conventional paragliding: that is unpowered, and its take-off and route depend on different conditions and techniques. If you are comparing the two, the key is to choose the experience that is actually available on the dates you are interested in.

What makes flying a Paratrike in Mallorca special?

The engine allows the pilot to manage climbs and descents more directly and adapt the route to the conditions of the day. When the weather and route allow, the flight may take you close to the coastline, sea and cliffs. Exploring the landscape from different angles is one of the Paratrike’s distinctive features.

Every flight depends on weather and safety conditions. For that reason, we cannot promise a specific route in advance: the pilot chooses the appropriate route for the day.

Where does the activity take place?

MallorcaFly’s Paratrike activity starts from Son Albertí, in Llucmajor. When we confirm your enquiry, we will send you the meeting point and practical arrival information. See the meeting point on the map.

What time do the flights take place?

Flights are usually organised in the first hours of the morning, around sunrise. The exact time changes with the season, the weather and the day’s schedule. The day before, we review the latest weather information and contact you to confirm your specific time.

So, although the calendar or an initial enquiry can help you plan, the final time is not confirmed far in advance. This is part of how we organise the activity carefully.

Weather and safety come first

Having an engine does not mean a Paratrike can fly in any weather. The wind and other conditions must be suitable for a safe flight. If the forecast or actual conditions are not suitable, our team will explain the options available under the terms of your purchase, voucher or reservation.

Do I need experience to fly?

No piloting skills or previous flying experience are needed: this is a tandem flight and the instructor pilots the Paratrike. You just need to listen to the team’s instructions and let them know in advance about any important questions so they can advise you before you confirm.

How to check availability

Times depend on sunrise, the weather and the daily schedule. To ask about a date, flight duration, available options and prices, message us on WhatsApp. We will confirm the current information before you make a decision.

Frequently asked questions

Are Paratrike and paragliding the same thing?

Both use a paraglider wing, but a Paratrike has an engine and a wheeled frame. Conventional paragliding is unpowered.

Can you fly over the sea?

The route depends on the weather and the pilot’s decision. If conditions allow, it may include views of the coast, sea and cliffs; a specific route cannot be guaranteed.

When will I know the exact time?

The team reviews the latest forecast the day before and contacts you to confirm the final time.

What if the weather is unsuitable?

If conditions are not suitable for a safe flight, we will not fly in those conditions. Our team will explain the options available for your purchase, voucher or reservation.
